New Serial Record

A new record is needed when:
  1. change in the first 5 words or the order of the first 5 of a title (do not count articles, prepositions, conjunction
  2. word anywhere in the title that changes the meaning or scope of the publication
  3. name of the issuing body, included in the title, has changed
  4. new series begins with numbering scheme the same (e.g. vol. 1, no. 1; new series vol. 1, no. 1)
    • change in the main entry (1xx field):
    • name of corporate body (110) changes
  5. change in qualifier in a uniform title (130), usually the name of a corporate body. Change in location does not need a new record
