NEW NAME FOR THE NEW YEAR!
This name was voted upon and prayed over by the college leadership team and Youth Pastors. Why The Well? It is inspired by the story in John where Jesus meets a woman at a well and shares that he has living water, water that will make a person never thirst again. You know the story… (and if you don’t read it! It’s posted at the bottom of this email). We Youth Pastors loved the themes of radical love and acceptance of all people, deep satisfaction in Christ, a call to be transparent and honest, the gift of forgiveness, a call to sin no more, an example to evangelize and tell of the good news the Lord Jesus brings, a challenge to step our of our comfort zones to reach out to the marginalized, etc…(I can go on and on about the beauty of this one passage). We thought this was an incredible story to focus on in Youth Ministry because of the beauty of Jesus portrayed in this one event. The name also begs for an explanation for those who don’t know Jesus or the Bible or maybe feel like an outsider.

Basically, this name is not only a beautiful representation of the character of Jesus in his pursuit of those who are lost but also is a name that gives an opportunity to talk about Jesus! We are so excited for this rebranding and the unity we feel it will continue to bring among Ascension, Resurrection, City on a Hill, and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Bless you for taking the time to read this and we will see you so soon!
