City On A Hill
Serving in the South Bay since 2003

We gather at 4030 Spencer, Unit #107

City on a Hill is...a Christian Church
City on a Hill is a Christian church and is affiliated with Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ. We profess the faith of the Christian church with a Lutheran theological flavor. Our purpose is to advance the Kingdom of God and make Jesus Christ known to all. We believe that Jesus is the author and answer to all of life’s faith questions and struggles.

City on a Hill is...a Relational Church

Have you heard the cliché, “We value people as our greatest asset?” No doubt you have. Well, how does that strike you? At City on a Hill we don’t look at people as “assets,” such as property of the corporation or an item of value that is owned. At City on a Hill, we reject the notion that people are costs, resources, or even assets. Relationships are our priority and our vision seeks to help people develop and enhance life’s most crucial relationships for the purpose of helping them reach their greatest potential. The three crucial relationships we attend to and foster are:
1.    One’s relationship with God
2.    One’s relationship with others that believe in God
3.    One’s relationship with those that don’t believe in God.

All of the above are crucial and vital human relationships that demand life’s attention and constant fostering. City on a Hill values all of these relationships and seeks to grow in all three simultaneously.

City on a Hill is...a Community Church

Relationships happen in community. City on a Hill values community and lives in community with others.
We see our relationships rooted in and growing in our communities in the South Bay. We see the church as “people” and not a “place”.  Church is wherever we are, and we are in the community

Our Vision
God is creating us and we are becoming a community of Christ-following disciples living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission through our relationships with the world, with the body of Christ, and with God.

Our Mission
“Our mission is to live out the Great Commandment (love God and others) and the Great Commission (teach others about Christ) through our relationships with the world, the body of Christ, and with God by committing to and living out the six relational habits of community service, public witness, corporate worship, spiritual relationships, Bible App & prayer.”

God is not a secret to be kept.

We're going public with this,

as public as a city on a hill.

Matthew 5:15The Message

Our gatherings begin at 9:00am with fellowship
(aka, coffee, juice, goodies and lots of great conversation).
We then move into a time (930am) of singing, prayer and a Biblical message to encourage and challenge one another to SHINE for Christ in the coming week. There is COAHkids Church time offered during the message, for children toddlers - 4th grade. We celebrate the Lord's Supper on the 2nd & 4th Sunday of each month.

Point, Click & Participate
Many ministry and mission opportunities are simply a point and click away.  Some are for your individual growth and maturity in your walk with Jesus Christ and the church. Others move you out into the ministry and mission field where Jesus sends you out to let your lights shine for God's glory.
Here are some to get you started.

(Please let Jon know
if you have others to add to this list.)

Family Promise is a community-based approach, engaging both the local community, as well as houses of faith in the effort to combat family homelessness.  Guests in our program receive a full complement of resources, support, and services as they work toward their own stability and self-reliance. COAH has recently trained volunteers that will be serving with Family Promise. If you would like more information, please contact the website:
