Lucia Paulsen
Lucia Paulsen is a Student of the Week because she is a well-rounded student. Lucia no only demonstrates strong leadership, citizenship, and self-leadership, she is also a very caring individual. Lucia takes time to observe, listen to, and assist her peers when they are in need of her help. Beyond her talents in visual arts, Lucia also demonstrated strong skills in communication. Lucia's feedback has helped me make adjustments to my teaching practices and how I grade student submissions. I truly enjoy having Lucia in my class this semester.

Aaron Colbert
Aaron is kind and supportive to his peers. He shows wit and determination when grappling with classwork. He seeks and takes feedback in order to improve but is not afraid to fight for an answer that he believe is right. These traits make the classrooms better for everyone and will serve him well at the next level.

Sky Logan
Sky is always helping students in class and even helps her teachers when she has extra time in her day. She will ask to organize anything to help her teachers out and we never have enough time. Her personality is always positive, and I think she is a good example for her peers.

Sury is one of the hardest working students in my class this year. She is extremely conscientious, and she always has a great attitude. Sury diligently seeks opportunities to improve her understanding and she never settles for anything less than her best effort. Her hard work has resulted in straight A's this quarter.

Ian has completed all work assignments including the Midterm review assignments. His current grade for third quarter is an 87. Ian us well-earned and deserved for his consistency and work ethic of this award.

Davis Neely
Davis has been nominated to be Student of the Week for his ;leadership in communication and technology skills. Davis presented to his Digital Design and Animation 1 Class how he moved his rough sketches from paper to Adobe Photoshop successfully. In the presentation, Davis highlighted the benefits of designing digitally for designers. In addition, Davis encouraged his classmates to use the digital tools we studied in Digital Design class to make our work stand out. Davis will return to the podium to speak as a student expert soon about storyboarding. Thanks to the inspiration from Davis, students showed interest and enthusiasm in using Paint and Draw programs for their design work.

Dagmawi Yonas
Dagmawi Yonas is a valuable asset in the classroom. He is extremely helpful to the students in the class that need peer support. He is always willing and ready to patiently guide anyone who is having trouble with technology. Dagmawi has excellent attendance and is never tardy to class. He is an eager learner who turns his work in on time and asks for help when he needs it. Dagmawi is a great role model and is well deserving to be recognized schoolwide as the student of the week!

Kennedy Nixon is the student of the week for attentiveness and behavior improvement for the past month. Kennedy has stepped up this s semester in all of her classes. She has been very respectful and willing to participate. This is a big change and it has been noticed by all of her teachers. She has also become a helper for her classmates socially, emotionally, and academically. We are proud of Kennedy and she deserves to be the student of the week.

Devan Shah is the student who helps other students who don't understand how to do something in any subject he can help with. He is always ready to learn, and willing to help everyone around him. He is kind, caring, and will always be there for you. Also, Devan is an amazing student who will do great things in the future. He is good at math and chemistry.

Rylan Lee has shown tremendous growth since he started Butler. He has grown academically, excelled in band, and developed strong connections in the school. Recently, Rylan was faced with a difficult situation with a friend, one most adults would have difficulties navigating appropriately. Rylan not only supported his friend during a difficult time but also encouraged his friend to seek out help when he was dealing with some significant things. Rylan made a difference in this young person's world. Rylan showed strength, courage, and most importantly exemplified kindness and friendship when needed the most. For this and so many reasons more, Rylan absolutely deserves to be the student of the week!

Ella Becker has exemplified great leadership and scholarship since the school year started. Ella has been consistent in coming to me to ask me if I wanted her to tutor other students in class. She is very generous in giving her time to help mentor her classmates who struggle with computer technologies. It is so wonderful to have a student like Ella who always pays close attention when I am teaching and she would use what she has learned from me to tailor her tutoring to meet her classmates' academic needs. Ella sets a very good example for her classmates what leadership and scholarship could look like for a 9th grader. I am very proud of Ella's achievement and her contribution to my class. I have nominated Ella several times before because she is an outstanding member of my DDA1 class. I believe Ella Becker deserves to be considered to be Student of the Week.

Butler High School would like to announce and introduce this week's Student of the Week Ta'maosa Searis. Ta'naisa helps mentoring her classmates after she completes her work daily. Ta'naisa took time and used different strategies to show her struggling classmates how to tackle challenges to complete their late assignments. In addition to mentoring, Ta'naisa also shows strong leadership and communication skills in demonstrating her knowledge in teaching concepts through drawing and examples on the whiteboard to enhance her classmates' learning experience. Ta'naisa exemplifies the essence of students teaching students. Ta'naisa is truly an asset in my fourth block Digital Design and Animation class.

Butler High School would like to announce and introduce this week's Student of the Week Ta' Cadet Lieutenant Galicia devotes his attention on completing responsibilities as a leader in JROTC and around the school. We are so thankful to have such a gifted and caring student amongst the Corp of Cadets who's loyalty is beyond reproach. He's the first student at school, supervises traffic flow during morning drop-offs and football games, leads his classmates with essential projects and assignments, and much much more in just two months. He is definitely a super star bulldog.

Butler High School would like to announce and introduce this week's Student of the Week Tre Niece Murray. Tre Niece is a natural leader in the classroom, noticing when classmates need assistance. She offers assistance and in turn, her classmates are comfortable to approach and ask her for help. Tre Niece has a strong work ethic and a love for learning new challenges in the sewing lab.

He participates in all class discussions and is always ready to offer a response or volunteer to read aloud. There hasn't been a time where I've called on Caleb that he has not responded. He encourages others in the class just being a natural leader that he is.

In homeroom Ronaldo has been an exceptional role model and peer to a new student by helping to communicate and assist our new student with translating. Josiah Wrice
Josiah Wrice is a conference track champion in multiple events (100, 200, 400, and 4x4). Josiah has a positive attitude in and out of the classroom as well. He sets a great example for what we would like to see in all our bulldogs. Josiah Wrice has been nominated for the Athlete of the Week with the Charlotte Observer. Ashleigh Lambert
Ashleigh shines at Track and as a member of the Student Government. She has that sweet presence that is contagious and makes everyone feel good when they are around her. Saturday, while decorating and preparing the Spring Fling Dance, there was an event in the Butler Auditorium for Martial Arts. The leaders of that event came over to our SGA students and asked if someone would be willing to sing the National Anthem for their program. Ashleigh volunteered and her rendition of the National Anthem was amazing. All of us in SGA sat in amazement as we supported her. I am so proud of Ashleigh. Therefore, she deserves the Student Spotlight!

This student is a great candidate for spotlight student of the month because of all the work he has been putting in working with Special Olympics of North America. He has been promoting our High School all the way as well as his partner Isaiah Woodson. They have shown bulldog pride.

Lakayla Oliver has earned a 92 on her PREP I Final and a 95 for her semester grade. Her attendance has been exemplary. She has consistently completed all assignments and is engaged during in-class discussions and question and answer responses.

Butler High School would like to announce and introduce the week's Student Spotlight of the Week Jana Pak. Jana was selected as an alternate violinist for the All-National Honors Symphony Orchestra. All-National is an incredibly exclusive ensemble that accepts only 150 students, including alternates, from the entire country each year. This is a well-deserved accomplishment, as Jana has consistently been not only an excellent violinist, but also a poised and effective leader in Orchestra during her four years at Butler High School.

This summer Jo was a Camp Volunteer with YMCA and has volunteered over 30 hours with the Indian Trail Food Pantry. She plans to continue volunteering throughout the school year. At Butler, she has assisted Mrs. Ferron with Chromebook distributions during Freshman Orientation and Walk Your Schedule Day. She is always happy to help those in her community and is proud to be a Bulldog.

Cameron is a Bulldog Soccer Athlete who exemplifies teamwork on and off the field. He is focused in class, he synthesizes information, and he goes above and beyond to help his table mates in accomplishing complex tasks. He does all of this consistently. He is a well-rounded individual.
