Welcome to Colegio Maya's Continuous School Improvement Portal

In beginning the 2016-2017 school year, new school director Michael Johnston has entered Colegio Maya with a fresh set of eyes and inquisitive mind with which to guide the school in its continuous school improvement. Carrying over from the 2015-2016 school year is the Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) that is comprised of four goals that are the result of the work from the Continuous School Improvement Team (CSIT). Recognizing that school improvement efforts are not solely limited to those goals identified in the CSIP, additional initiatives directed towards school improvement have been identified for 2016-2017. This Portal is intended to serve as a work space that is a transparent means of sharing and communication of these school improvement efforts.

As chair of the Continuous School Improvement Team (CSIT), Mr. Johnston in conjunction with team members have articulated the following description of focus in light of CSIT’s recent work in attending to the AdvancED accreditation process and development of continuous school improvement goals (see sidebar menu).

Form/Function of CSIT:  As a representative multi stakeholder group (students, parents, teachers, administrators, board members, and alumni), the primary function of the CSIT is to give continuity of the four continuous school improvement goals that have been identified in the Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) while making sure that accreditation requirements are fulfilled. In addition, CSIT is available to brainstorm with various school committees while serving with an ample toolbox to help, question and wonder as related to improving student learning.

Purpose of CSIT:  To be the multi stakeholder group which oversees, vets, and informs subcommittees who are working on the action steps of the goals of the CSIP.

Process of working:  Currently, the CSIT will meet on a need to be basis, touching base in the middle of the year and at the end of the year. The CSIT will be a more dormant meeting group until it is needed to meet on a consistent basis.
