This year, to encourage students to appreciate the importance of thankfulness, the English Department treated Junior form students to an informative, yet entertaining session by officers from the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate on Thanksgiving Day, 21 November 2012.

Through the session, students learnt the origin and significance of Thanksgiving, and came to understand that Thanksgiving is perhaps one of the best gifts America has given to the world – a model for other countries to follow, where citizens set aside a day in the year to gather family and close friends to celebrate and give thanks for the many blessings in their lives. The session was not complete without games and treats - students enthusiastically participated in quizzes and games, and were treated to candies. The session culminated in a traditional Thanksgiving activity in which students shared about things/people they are thankful for in their lives.

True to the intention of the session, the students walked away with the essence of Thanksgiving in their hearts – gratitude and happiness.
