  2017-2018 School Year
"Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children."  Walt Disney

This year we will borrow a term from Walt Disney, the creator of Disneyland...it is the word, IMAGINEER.  Imagineering will enable us to use our ideas, skills, and talents to solve problems in unique ways, become a team who works and plays, strives and succeeds, encourages and uplifts, wins and loses  together.  We will learn and grow as we discover interesting information and meet exciting challenges each day.

Summer Activities 2017

Again this past summer my family and I stayed within the continental United States.  The farthest from Fresno County that we got was to the beautiful state of Montana.  While there we attended a family wedding, learned more about the history of the area, and enjoyed the cool weather, forested mountains and clear lakes.  Once back in Clovis we took day trips to local attractions such as Forestiere Underground Gardens and Wild Water Adventures.  In July the lure of  cool ocean breezes and warm sand beaches proved hard to resist, so we headed to the California coast and spent a week in Cambria.    As August approached we took to the mountains again and spent a few days at Hume Lake before returning home to begin getting ready for the start of the new school year.

Summer Activities 2016

This summer my family and I enjoyed several  trips along the Pacific Coast.  The first week of summer vacation we headed to Morro Bay for a few days to unwind and do some relaxing after a very busy school year.  By the end of June we were in the beautiful state of Oregon.  A few days spent in Portland allowed us to go to the zoo, visit some interesting museum exhibits, eat some world renown donuts, and learn more about the Northwest.  After Portland we traveled to Netharts on the Oregon coast for a week with our extended family.  Sightseeing, cookouts on the beach, coastal train rides, and lighthouses were a few of the highlights.  Early July found us at "the happiest place on earth"...Disneyland!  As always we had so much fun reacquainting ourselves with Mickey, Minnie, Lightening McQueen, and all of the other beloved Disney characters. Mid July was spent at Lakeside &  Missoula, Montana again visiting with family, floating the Clark Fork River in tubes, learning about the Montana "smoke jumpers" who are fire fighters that parachute into dangerous forest fires to bring them under control, and hiking through the amazing Montana wildernesses.  Embedded in the plane, car, tube, and train rides was multiple projects around our house and property.  A busy, but enjoyable summer at the Reese home!  I hope you all had a great summer as well.

Summer Activities 2015

This summer was spent staying close to home and enjoying many family events and adventures.  We discovered a wonderful new place in Gilroy.  Gilroy Gardens is a family friendly, low-key amusement park with beautiful gardens and fun rides for kids of all ages.  We also took some short trips to interesting and exciting places such as the President Reagan Library in Simi Valley, San Francisco, and the beach.  Our "big trip" was to Montana for river rafting, hiking, and "moose hunting."  Although I did not get another stamp in my passport, I did have a great, productive, yet relaxing summer.  I hope your summer was one to remember also!

Summer Activities 2014

My summer vacation included a fabulous trip to Italy during late June and the first two weeks in July.  There is certainly a lot to be learned from a visit to cities such as Florence, Venice, and Rome.  We toured within the country by train and car and were able to see many famous sights, such as the Roman Colosseum, Saint Peter's and Saint Mark's cathedrals, Vatican City, and the ancient towns of the Cinque Terre on the Ligurian Sea.  We also spent a week in the region of Umbria and learned about life in the beautiful hill towns of central Italy such as Orvieto, Assisi, and Todi.  We ate pizza and pasta everyday, rode on funiculars, vaporettos, and in water taxis, walked on miles of cobblestone streets, climbed endless flights of steps, and of course ate gelato every day!  In late July and early August we headed to Southern California for a quick delightful trip to the "Happiest Place on Earth!" Disneyland.  Cars Land in CA Adventure is a new family favorite.  I hope you, and your family had as wonderful a summer as we did.
