  • Week of Aug. 28th- Sept. 1st What a great first week! Thank you to all of you that sent in donations of Kleenex, pencils, paper, and hand sanitizer.  Our classroom appreciates your generosity! Here’s what’s going on academically this upcoming week: We start our Block rotations Monday.  Room 23 has Math with Mrs. Smith first, then are back for Literature/Grammar/Narrative & Explanatory Writing, and their 3rd block is with Miss Avitabile for Science/Social Studies/Informative & Explanatory Writing. Math: With Mrs. Smith, the first unit will focus on decimals, fractions, and the coordinate plane.  They will also be completing their Daily Math with Mrs. Smith.   • Untitled Post August 2017 Dear 6th grader, We are so excited to welcome you to sixth grade!  This year is going to be amazing.  From our departmentalized approach to learning, to our trip to Sonora, sixth grade will be unforgettable.  We can’t wait to meet you on the first day of school, Monday, August 21st.   • Week of June 5-9 Good afternoon: This is it- my last weekly email update; can you believe that we are entering the last week of the year!! I can’t believe how quickly this week has arrived and I know how quickly it will fly by.  Thank you so much for all that you do to support your child at home and for sharing your child with me!   • Week of May 30-June 2 Good morning! Happy Memorial Day! I believe we can now start the official countdown to the last day of school- 9 school days left! Here’s what we have this week in the classroom: Math: Students will be finishing and turning in their end-of-the-year project called “Million Dollar Math”.   This project will be due May 31st.   Literature:   Tuesday, students will be reading the Greek myth “Arachne” in their textbooks and completing an accompanying assignment.  They will also have time to put the finishing touches on their group reader’s theater presentation.
