Notes to Parents and Students:  Week of 10/16/17
This is the 9th week of the school year. That makes it the last week of the first quarter.  I'll be wrapping up the grade book and preparing for parent conferences.  I'll be having parent conferences all next week before and after school, and all day next Friday.  We will have the first quarter awards assembly on Monday at 2:45 pm in the cafeteria.  This week is also Character Counts week.  We are encouraging students to wear certain colors to celebrate the week.  Monday is wear blue, Tuesday is orange, Wednesday is purple, Thursday is yellow, and Friday is green.  Our sports teams will have their last regular season game on Friday at Weldon.  The football team is invited to Clovis High's game Friday for Elementary Night at Lamonica Stadium.  And finally, next week is Red Ribbon Week.  Continue reading for more details.
Last week I sent home a parent/teacher conference sign-up/confirmation schedule.  I would like to get those returned ASAP.  If you signed up for a time at Back-To-School night, and the time is still good for you, please initial next to your child's name and return the notice.  If you need to sign-up for a time, or change your time, please put 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in three available slots, and I'll send you a confirmation notice of the time you get.  I will put a copy of the schedule on the "downloadable forms" page of this website if you need to see your time, or what times are still available.  I'm looking forward to talking with everyone next week!
Our drama cast and crew is still practicing hard to get ready for our school production.  They will continue to practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays before school.  I'm looking forward to seeing the show!
Last Friday, our fall sports teams hosted Mickey Cox.  The football team ran away from the Cowboys with an impressive 27 to 6 win to improve to 4 and 1 in league.  The volleyball team won its second match in a row with a win over Cox.  The cross-country team only managed to take one of the four races it had.  We will practice all week to get ready for our last regular league games at Weldon this Friday.  As usual, the J.V. games should be starting around 2:00 pm and all the varsity games begin promptly at 3:00 pm.  Go Hawks!!!  Next week is the last week for fall sports.  It looks like our varsity football and volleyball teams will probably have cross area games at a location to be determined on Thursday.  The top 3 cross-country runners for each team will participate in the district championships at Buchanan next Thursday.  The J.V. teams will be done with the season after this week's games.
Homework Club will continue this week in Mrs. Bowers room (room 12) after school form 3:30 to 4:30.  Rec buses will be available for students who usually ride the bus home form school.  Mrs. Samuelian will be starting detention in her room this Thursday after school from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Just a reminder.  All visitors who come on campus need to first report to the office to get a visitors' badge.  We're making a concerted effort to make our campus as safe as possible for all of our students, so please abide by our safety rules.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Have a great week!
Mr. Althoff
