Notes to Parents and Students:  Week of 5/6/24

Five weeks to go!!!  It's really going fast now.  We're in our second week of state testing.  We'll be trying to do some make-ups Monday, Math CAT Wednesday, and Math performance task Thursday.  We have next week to make up any tests that don't get finished this week.  We've trimmed our track team down to the top two in each event.  We have our Clovis High Area Track Championships this Tuesday from 9:30 to 1:30 at the CHS track.  Our Spring Concert is this Thursday night.  Our students will be picking their Sonora groups this Monday afternoon.  They'll get to form their own groups of three, and the teachers will put the groups of three together into larger groups for classes.  That's pretty much it for this week.  Read on for more details.

It's state testing time.  We'll be taking the Math test this Wednesday and Thursday.  We might try to get some make-up testing for ELA done on Monday, if we have time.  Please get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast, and get to school on time!  We want everyone to do their best on the test this year!

Our music groups will be performing this Thursday evening at our end of the year Spring Concert.  The band will be performing at 5:30, the orchestra plays at 6:00, and the choir will sing at 6:30.  I hope everyone can make it.

We're getting prepared for our 6th grade camp trip in May.  All forms have been turned in.  If you haven't paid for the trip by May 1st,  the payment needs to be made in cash.  The students will be picking their groups this week.  The teachers will be putting the student chosen groups together and will post the "day groups" the day before we leave.  Please email me if you have any questions.

Our track team competed at the Clovis Area Invitational Track Meet last week.  We had a lot of strong performances.  We are now cutting the team down to the top 2 athletes in each event for the Clovis Area Championships this Tuesday from 9:30 to 1:30.  We won't have any practices before this meet.  If an athlete finishes in the top 3 in the CHS area, they will qualify for the District Championship Track Meet on Friday, May 17th.  Any qualifiers will practice this Thursday and next Tuesday.

Homework Club will continue this week.  Students can go, work, and get help with their class and homework after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:35 to 4:00 PM.  Monday will be Room 8 with Mr. Holmes, Tuesday is Room 13 with Mrs. Moore (formerly Miss Hill), and Thursday is Room 10 with Mrs. Witte.  Responsibility Room is done for the year.
