How to Succeed in Math Class

During Class
  • Be an Active Learner - focus, listen, participate, ask questions - learning is an active activity.
  • Bring materials to class everyday (pencil, calculator, textbook, binder and paper).
  • Take notes and write down examples (sample problems).
  • Try the sample practice problems given during class.
  • Start your practice problems in class.
After Class
  • Do the homework/practice problems ASAP!!
  • Show all your work.
  • When working on homework, check your answers to see if you are doing them correctly.
  • Use the practice problems or notes from class to guide you.
  • Use my website to help you.
Beginning of Class on the Next Day
  • Check solutions and mark the ones you got wrong.
  • Write down the correct solutions.
  • Write down any problems we go over.
  • If still confused about a problem, see me for help.
Studying for Quizzes and Tests
  • Go over homework problems you got wrong and write down the correct answer
    • Ask me to go over the problem in class
    • Without looking, redo the problem and see if you get the correct answer.
  • Still confused?  Come in to get extra help after school or during RISE.
CORRECTIONS!!    
  • If possible, make quiz corrections right away and ask if you can retake the quiz.
  • If possible, correct and retake summative assessments ASAP.
