Next week the students will need to bring an example of a rubric + the assessment with them on November 20, 2012. Please make sure that the students have a description of the assessment with them. If they cannot bring the assessment with them, the students may use their phone to take a picture of the assessment. The students will need to be able to look at the assessment when they are reflecting.
Advisory will be extended today for 10 minutes.
Please take a few minutes to check in with your students about their 1st quarter grades. Mr. Jacobson should have put a copy of their report card in your mailbox. If they didn't do well, maybe help them come up with strategies that will allow them to find some success in the 2nd quarter.
"Success," Ralph Waldo Emerson
To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded.
What do the students think of this quote? Do they agree? Disagree? Why or why not? Explain.
How would the students define success?
How do the students plan for success in school? In life? Do they have plans?
A flier has been put in your mailboxes regrading Fill the Truck for Hurricane relief. Please review with students and encourage them to donate starting Wednesday!
