Learn the importance of keeping your home safe from environmental hazards such as lead paint

As part of our committment to safe, decent housing, CTO is an active partner and member of the Healthy Homes Advisory Council of Greater Cleveland (formerly the Greater Cleveland Lead Advisory Council), a collaboration of non-profit agencies, private foundations, and government entities, whose goal is to eliminate childhood lead poisoning and environmental health dangers throughout Greater Cleveland.

CTO has also been an important partner in assisting eligible low-income tenants complete applications for City and County home improvement assistance grants related to lead hazard control.

Our partner agency, Environmental Health Watch, is a wonderful resource on the dangers of lead paint and other home health hazards.  To learn more about the following issues, just click on a link:

CTO provides important information about bedbugs

Bedbugs are a recurring pest for tenants since many of the pesticides that have kept them away for the past sixty years are now banned for safety reasons.  CTO is a founding partner of the Cuyahoga County Bedbug Task Force and is working with our partners to determine best practices for controlling this growing issue.  For more information on what you can do to prevent and control bedbugs, click HERE.  For more information visit the Cuyahoga County Bedbug Task Force website.

Our free pamphlet, "How to Find and Make a Healthy Home" is available for download at the bottom of this page, along with important information on keeping your family safe from the hazards of lead-based paint.

A recent story in the USA Today, relying on data collected by our partner agency Environmental Health Watch (see http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-04-20/smelting-lead-contamination-soil-testing/54420418/1) has shown that soil in urban areas contains a significant amount of lead.  Please share the  info. piece below as part of our tenants for healthy homes collaboration!
