Work Experience

Work Experience can be a great way to get your foot in the door of a company you would like to work for, as well as learning the tricks of the trade.  This is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain confidence and learn new skills, and make useful contacts in the work place. (more information can be found in the attachments below).

During Community Week 8 to 12 July 2019 you have the chance to spend time out of school with an employer, but you will have to find a placement yourself, just like looking for a real job.

When you find an employer you want to work with and who is willing to take you on for the week, you need to fill in Work Experience forms and return them to us by the end of January 2019 (the forms are on this page below ).

This is very important as East Sussex County Council need to process the paperwork, carry out Health and Safety checks, and approve the placement before you are allowed to go (even if this is with a close relative).

Remember, employers do not get paid to look after you; they take part because they want to help young people, so you have to make sure you are committed and enthusiastic and will not waste the employer's time.

Advice on how to contact employers to ask for a work experience placement can be found in the files at the bottom of this page or on the websites under useful links

PLEASE NOTE - Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary no longer offer work experience programme.
