The Clarence Presbyterian Church is part of the greater Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), an institution unique for its presbyterian pattern of government. The word "presbyterian" comes from the Greek word for elder. Since the Elders are chosen by the people, in their service they remain faithful both to them and to God; Elders make up the governing board called the Session.

One of the hallmarks of the Presbyterian Church is that each church runs itself through the activities of the Boards and sub-committees of the boards. It is the responsibility of our Boards to oversee everything from paying the bills, to caring for the elderly and home bound, to setting policy. Without active, involved members we could not continue to live out what God has called us to do as a congregation.
