Thank you for a wonderful year.  If you want to see what we're doing on the last days of school - look to the left under Fall of Empires for our power point and many fun clips.

Drama Class - what a fantastic group! More fun is ahead.

Drama Club - what a great year!

RDJ students- Our journeys have concluded!  Thank you for a great year.  I hope you enjoyed your certificates and "coin" Thanks for a great year!

           Overview of the year-

World History: we will be studying the ancient world and geography with a focus on historical thinking.  Students will learn about:

  • early humans as hunter-gatherers
  • the migration and settlement of people
  • the emergence of pastoral and agrarian societies
  • the rise and fall of powerful empires
  • world religions
  • trade and the diffusion of ideas and cultures
Remember, look at "Think Like a Historian" for important  information like our student information.

Possible donations for the classroom: box of #2 pencils, kleenex-especially the tall square ones, little bathroom dixie cups-(very important), glue sticks and bags of candy for treats-jolly ranchers are a big favorite - paper towels are handy too.  Remember, at this time we could really use kitchen or bathroom size Dixie cups.  Students love to get drinks!

See school web site for school wide events.

The picture below is me and my son Matt.

In case you want to know a little more about me:  I have been with Clarkston Community Schools for a number of years.  I have been  a teacher at all levels and have been a counselor at the secondary level.  Although I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my different positions, my favorite is right where I am at -SMS. I look forward to the beginning of each school year; I am really excited to  begin the 2014-15 school year! I also enjoy taking pictures, being involved with the Religious Diversity Journey Group for 7th graders, sponsoring the Drama Club, shopping, movies, and  working out (especially Zumba and Yoga) Educationally,  I attended CMU for a year, however I graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Teaching from Oakland University.  My husband Jim is an assistant superintendent for Swartz Creek Schools. Our only child, Matthew (former CHS graduate),  graduated from CMU a year ago with his mater's degree and is currently living in Waterford and working in Clarkson for Independence TV.

This is my husband Jim, Matt and me following CMU's graduation ceremony - Bachelors degree, above - Master's degree below.
