As a lifelong learner and an educator, I value the experiences I get to have with the many people I meet, learn with, and help to learn. I believe that the skills we need to be effective learners are ones we practice and sharpen our whole lives, and the better we are at learning, the more doors that are open to us.

  • 'Tis the Season...to Take a Risk in Learning As the second trimester of 2013-2014 begins, we are possibly remembering yummy food and great family and friends from Thanksgiving, celebrating our Varsity Football team's State Championship, and preparing for the holiday season.  I'd like to throw in one more thing that we should be doing more of--taking risks in our learning. Many of you (students in my classes) are afraid to try for fear of being wrong, or totally miss a great insight because you stop thinking once you think you have the "right" answer.  I'd like to challenge everyone (including me) to try to strive beyond the "answer" to get to the thoughts that matter, the ideas and concepts that can't be ...
