Visual Art

Mrs. Palmer

What a privilege it is to work in this amazing community. I am so happy to share my love of art with you all. I began teaching art at Christ the King School in 2004. I graduated from UVM in 2001 with a BA in Anthropology and again in 2003 with a Certificate in Art Education.

I married my husband Sean in 2008. Mr. Palmer teaches 5th grade. We have two amazing boys; Liam is in third grade and Eli will be turning five this winter.  We live in the woods on a mountain in Williston near my parents and their beautiful vegetable garden. Mr. Palmer and I lead a 4-H group in Williston with my mother. When I am not at CKS, I enjoy gardening, needle felting, painting, taking photographs, taking walks, and spending time with my family.

Philosophy of Art Education

Art education is essential to the development of both the mind and spirit of all people.  Creative expression, critical thinking, creative problem solving and the ability to fluently read an image are essential skills in the twenty first century.  The National Core Art Standards, the Elements and Principles of Design and a focus on technique in all available art media are at the core of my curriculum.  I firmly believe that a focus on best techniques and practice are the key to mastery of any discipline. The ability and freedom to fully express one's creativity lie within this mastery.  I integrate art concepts and process with a variety of themes from other academic areas.  We study prehistoric, historical and contemporary artists and their works from a range of cultures.  Each grade explores and refine their skills with a variety of media and techniques in order to create their own amazing artwork.  I am devoted to the success of every student and will do everything in my power to ensure that each student receives the time, materials, and support he or she needs.  All students can be successful given the necessary support.  My goal is to inspire an appreciation for and a celebration of the world, life, and the blessings God has bestowed upon us through Art.

The Mission of Christ the King School

The Mission of Christ the King School is to provide an excellent education in a Catholic community of love and care; to foster respect for self and others; and to nourish a life long devotion to God and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
