Dear Christ the King Families,
The summer is flying by and we are fast approaching one of my favorite days of the year; the First Day of School!
It is my great pleasure and privilege to introduce myself as the new Principal of Christ the King School. As a parish member and a former student, I know how fortunate I am to have this position. I have taught every grade level from kindergarten to grade six, worked as a consultant of reading and language arts in Connecticut and held the position of Principal of three schools in Vermont. I look forward to combining my Catholic faith with my educational experiences in a warm and caring school such as Christ the King.
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a two day retreat with Sister Laura Della Santa and principals from other Catholic schools around the state. Monsignor Bernie Bourgeois asked us to reflect on Psalm 62: “My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation, God alone is my rock and salvation, my fortress; I shall never fall”. This is meaningful as we begin a new school year. This psalm truly speaks to us as we accept changes in our lives and look to God to guide us. I am so confident that I am in the best place at this time in my life, and I have trusted in God and know He brought me here.
We have some additional changes in staffing for the 2015-2016 school year. Please join me in welcoming new staff members, Margaret (Peg) Fothergill and Nicholas (Nick) Masterson to the Christ the King family. Mrs. Fothergill will be teaching grade four. Mrs. Fothergill comes to us with a B.S in Elementary Education and Special Education from UVM, and has earned several credits in postgraduate work from various colleges. She most recently worked as a special educator at Proctor Elementary School. Our new music teacher is Mr. Masterson. He is a recent graduate of Castleton University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Mr. Masterson student taught in Fair Haven High School as well as Rutland Intermediate School. Mrs. Barbagallo will rejoin the middle school team and will teach social studies in sixth and eighth grades, while she continues to fulfill her duties as our CKS librarian. We are currently taking applications for middle school science and physical education, as Aaron Siritoli has accepted a position in New York State. We wish him well in his new position.
I look forward to meeting everyone at the Back to School Barbecue on Wednesday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. I am told it is a very special event. We are in for a great year full of God’s blessings and love.
With peace, happiness and gratitude,
