Mrs. Dukes
Middle School Science

Welcome to middle school science!

It's going to be a great year.  I can't wait to get to know all of you; here's a little bit about me.

I grew up in Tennessee, where my love of science was first cultivated - spending countless hours romping up and down creek beds observing nature in all its glory.  That love of science was fine tuned at the University of Evansville, where I earned a bachelor's degree in biology.  Teaching and science were combined when I earned my masters in secondary education in 2009.

I have been involved with Core Knowledge since 2001, when the first of my two children began attending Core.  I understand what it is like to be on both ends of the educational experience.  I love the school and enjoy the freedom and benefits that a charter school can bring.

I have been PCK's middle school science teacher for the past seven years, and am entering into my eighth year.  Prior to teaching science, I spent two years tutoring in the special education department and another two years substitute teaching.  In addition to my teaching experience, I worked with the youth at my church for many years.

Not only do I delight in being around young people, but I also enjoy sports and generally being outdoors.  Most weekends you can find me on a soccer field.  When it is not soccer season, I like to hike and camp with my family.  I am always up for an adventure - that's why I am a middle school science teacher!
