Homework & Assignments
Homework is assigned regularly. 
Students will be using their PVC issued homework planners to record their daily homework and long term assignments. 
Please check your child's planner daily. Mrs. Herbert will do the same.

Mrs. Herbert posts many resources on her blog that allow students to review class lessons, learn new concepts and deepen their understanding through independent research. Students and parents will find it a useful resource as the school year unfolds. 





ELA & Social Studies 
 Expectation

  1. Students will come to school prepared to learn. This means they will have gotten a good night's sleep and have eaten a nutritious breakfast. They will also come to school with all their materials for the school day. 
  2. Students will come to class prepared to actively learn. This means they will have all of their materials and assignments completed and with them. They will have taken care of errands during the change of classed or as allowed per classroom routines.
  3. Students will do their personal best.  We will celebrate each other's talents and unique strengths, We will support each other as we develop our skills and accept new challenges. 




About Mrs. Herbert
 
Mrs. Herbert began teaching in 1991. Since that time, her career has allowed her to work in several school districts, where she has developed a love of the dynamic middle school age group. 

Mrs. Herbert has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo. She completed her M.Ed at Ohio University through an exchange with Sheffield Polytechnic in Sheffield, England. Mrs. Herbert has furthered her education and teacher training at both Bank Street College and Columbia Teacher's College. She has completed an advanced degree (CAS) in educational administration from SUNY New Paltz. She has worked as an educational consultant, curriculum coordinator and been a featured teacher at a conference on integrating arts in the curriculum.  Mrs. Herbert has taught as an adjunct professor at PACE's School of Education. In 2016, Mrs.Herbert was recognized as a NYS Teacher of Excellence. In the summer of 2018, she was a teaching fellow for the Uberoi Foundation. Presently, she is pursuing her TESOL certification at SUNY New Paltz.

Mrs. Herbert is married to Marty and has three children. She enjoys writing and has published several times in the Canvas Arts Magazine in Orange County. These feature articles celebrated accomplished student musicians and music teachers. She enjoys travel, gardening, and reading, but her favorite past time is down-hill skiing.
