Halmstad Elementary is using Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) as a process for creating a safer and more effective school. PBIS focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior of all students. We recognize that it is very important to be consistent with behavior expectations, to teach respectful behaviors, to handle poor behaviors choices with consequences, and to provide positive reinforcement when students are following our rules. Our main goal is to create safe environments where students can learn.

We are focusing on...
Respecting each other in all areas of our school!

Enjoy this movie that was created by pre5th grade students.
"The video you just watched is about "respecting the bubble."  We had a group of seven 5th grade students that worked to plan this video.  We all had our own part that was all we needed.  Thanks, Guys!" (intro by Mrs. Glasener's 5th Grade Leadership Small Group).  Thanks also to Chelsey Weierke, School Counseling Practicum Student.

The bubble was used to remind students to be safe by keeping hands and feet to self and was our building-wide behavior goal.  We're close to meeting our goal and can't wait for celebration when we get back to school in January.

Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe!
