Mrs. Adams 3rd Grade!

Welcome to Mrs. Adams Class
I am so glad that you are in our classroom this year!

A little about Mrs. Adams:

Welcome to my classroom, I teach English, Language Arts, and Reading in third grade. I have been teaching in China Spring Elementary for the past 15 years and LOVE it! I have been married to my husband Larry for the past 17 years, and together we have 3 children that keep us very busy. All of our children attend China Spring School and have attended here since they started in Pre-K. Our Oldest, Marshall is a Junior at China Spring High School, plays football, and has started his own business this past summer, Texas Snow Waco shaved Ice. Our middle child, Mitchell is starting at the Middle School this year. Mitchell also plays football, aside from football, Mitchell is an all around Sports kid and is involved in all types of sports. Our youngest, Maddilyn, is in First Grade this year on the elementary campus. She loves swimming, singing, and cheering on her Favorite Cougars, her brothers! In addition to teaching third grade, I also enjoy Thirty-One Gifts, and have been selling for the past 6 years. My favorite color is PINK, I LOVE my morning coffee, and Technology is one of my biggest loves! I am excited to be your teacher this year and cannot wait to see you all GROW!

Parent Communication :  This year Mrs. Biesterfeld and I will be using BLOOMZ! Bloomz is a parent communication tool that will help keep you informed in what is going on in the classroom. My goal is for ALL parents to be signed up for Bloomz so that you will all be able to involved in your child's learning. Please download the Bloomz App on your phone and use the Parent Access Code: QS75SN to join our classroom.

3rd Grade Reading

Our reading curriculum in 3rd grade is based on the Texas TEKS. In my classroom I believe that students learn best when they have choices, and can learn in a cooperative learning environment through small groups, centers, technology and hands on learning. I have incorporated these elements along with innovative flexible seating to help your child reach their full learning potential.

Reading work may seem a little harder for your  student, as it is much different from what they have seen in the past. Reading questions go deeper into the meaning of the text they are reading. Questions are more objective and make the students think a little harder.

Students are also required to "prove" their answers. This simply means I want them to go back into the chapter and find the page that the answer is on.  This helps them to rethink their answer and not just quickly answer the question. Students who prove their work correctly generally make higher grades! :)
