Excellence
Hello, and welcome

 to my Google Page!

I am so excited to be

 working with your

children in the

                ElementaryComputer

Lab this year!

                        I have a lot of

                educational
and fun

                lessons planned for

I believe that children

                and adults learn
best

                    through hands on

                activities that
are fun

                        as well as

                    educational!

Learning  To Type

2nd Grade
The program I start with for 2nd grade is Dance Mat Typing. It's free and on the internet.

I encourage children to practice at home however I have rules. I would just ask you to let us get started here so I can instruct them on the right way and the wrong way. It's much easier to teach them the right way than to fix them after they've practiced  bad habits they've formed on their own.

3rd Grade
The program I started with for 3rd grade this year is Nail It Now typing tutor, find it here http://www.nailitnow.com.au/typingtutor/. Which teaches typing one hand at a time with catchy phrases to help them remember the keys/letters in a sequence. We will then move on to the program I introduced them to at the end of last year. Type To Learn 4 is a program the school purchased a few years ago and has continued to update as the program has been updated.
Here's a little about the program...

Type to Learn 4: Agents of Information will improve student typing speed and accuracy by teaching how to type more efficiently.

Type to Learn 4 has more than 100 lessons, 5 engaging, skill-targeted typing games with each lesson, and 7 diagnostic, formative, and summative keyboarding assessments.

Take a look at the Youtube video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oRJOT8trUo

Please help me, help them, by making sure they always use home row keys and correct fingering when using a key board. When practicing at home have them cover their hands with a dish towel so they won't "hunt" out the letters by looking at the keyboard.
