We have developed this website in order to provide parents/staff/visitors with an opportunity to learn more about the Speech and Language programs and services provided to our Darcey students.  Please feel free to peruse the links attached to this website.  We have included brief descriptions of the services andprograms housed at Darcey School, a speech sound acquistion chart, helpful tips to encourage language development, and contact numbers and e-mail addresses to reach us.  We hope you find this website helpful.

Moira Aitro,M.S.,CCC-SLP Kindergarten, Consultation Center

Hi, I am Moira Aitro and I attended SCSU and graduated with a Master of Science in Communication Disorders.  Following graduate school, I began working for the Cheshire Public School District at Darcey School in the 3-5 Early Intervention Center, Birth to 3 Program, and the kindergarten program.  In addition, I have worked as a speech and language pathologist at Chapman School and St.Bridget's School.  I am presently providing speech and language services to identified students attending Darcey's Early Intervention Center and Kindergarten program, Highland School, Cheshire High School, and the Quinnipiac Post Secondary Life Skills Program.  My other responsibilities at Darcey School include conducting speech and language screenings/evaluations and consulting with and supporting teachers, instructional assistants, and literacy coaches.  I provide support as a member of Darcey's Child Study Team, and conduct assessments of children referred to our Consultation Center.  


Susan Vogt, M.S., CCC-SLP EIC, Parent Center

Hi, my name is Susan Montagna-Vogt, M.S., CCC/SLP.  I am a full time Speech pathologist at Darcey School servicing students in our Early Intervention Center.  My primary responsibilities include providing speech/language therapy and consultation to several preschool classrooms and speech/language program and our 3-5 year old Parent Center Program.  In addition to providing therapy and consultation to our preschool population with special needs, I participate in the child assessment process needed to determine the existence of a speech or language impairment.  I have many years experience with augmentative and assistive technology and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).  My philosophy of early communication is both simple and complex.  I feel if a child feels safe, secure, and happy they can find powerful motivation to communicate.  I have learned from being at Darcey that anything is possible and that parents should know that we are here to help.
