About Us
Founded by Doug Shidler, an electrical engineer at Sikorsky, and two former CHS Mathematics teachers in 2000, the MechaRAMS, is made up of CHS students, engineering and non-engineering volunteer mentors and a faculty advisor from CHS. We have been competing in FIRST Robotics competitions since 2001.

On the first Saturday of January of each year, FIRST kicks off the robotics competition season by announcing this year’s game, a specific task our robot must perform in a sports-like competition.

Team 999 has six weeks to build a 120-pound robot, which requires highly innovative engineering, from CAD drawings to completion. Students and professional engineering mentors work seven days a week to design, construct, test and operate a competitive robot.
