Cheshire Track Standout Jake Scinto Named “Gatorade Connecticut Male Athlete of the Year”

Jake Scinto at the zenith with his  winning jump at the New England Track and Field Championships held in Saco, Maine on June 9. On this, his third and final attempt at 6 feet 11 inches he cleared the bar to win the championship. Scinto also won the Long Jump at this meet.

Jake Scinto, 2012 received the Gatorade Connecticut Male Athlete of the Year. The Gatorade Player of the year is awarded each year to the top male and female high school athlete in each state according to Cheshire High School's Athletic Director, Steve Trifone.

The award is administered by ESPN and the Gatorade company.

ESPNHS magazine will feature Scinto in the fall.

On June 16 Scinto automatically became a High School All American with his first place finish at the National Track and Field Championship held in North Carolina according to Trifone. Scinto cleared the height of 6 feet 8 inches to win.

Scinto will be competing for the Princeton Tigers next fall.
