Senior Spotlight Male: Chris Baker
by Grace Azaula, 2020 (posted 11-14-18)

Chris Baker, a senior this year, has been working on one of his final CHS productions, Suite Surrender. Over his four years at Cheshire High School, Chris Baker has been an avid participant in the drama program. He has performed in musicals Mary Poppins, Singin’ in the Rain, and Merrily We Roll Along. He has also performed in the fall productions Much Ado About Nothing and Radium Girls, and has been a tech member for last year’s fall show, She Stoops to Conquer. Chris Baker is also a proud member of Cheshire High’s choral group vocal jazz, and has performed many musicals through St. Peter’s Summer Drama Program, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, and Beauty and the Beast. When Chris isn’t performing or helping out backstage, he can be found playing basketball and hanging out with his friends and family. Come support this amazing senior in his final fall performance, Suite Surrender on November 15th, 16th, and 17th!

What has been your favourite part of the fall play this year?

My favourite part of the show this year has definitely been the great group of people we have. It is an amazing experience to be surrounded by such funny, energetic people.

Who is your favorite character in the show?

My favorite character in the show is actually the one I play, Mr. Dunlap. He resembles Mr. Mosby in the TV show Suite Life of Zack and Cody quite a bit, and I think that his stress and sarcastic remarks make him really fun to watch, and to play.

What is your favorite production that you’ve been a part of?

My favorite production so far has been St. Peter’s production of Beauty and the Beast. I love the upbeat songs and scenes in the show, and playing Lumiere was super cool as well.

What will you miss the most about CHS Drama and the fall play?

Although I do love performing, the thing that I am going to miss the most is all of the moments between being on stage. With such a wonderful cast and crew, it’s really nice to just talk and joke with one another. I’m definitely going to miss these conversations.

Why should the audience come see the show?

I think that people should come see the show because it is extremely funny and it is appealing to people of all ages. No matter who you are, this show will be sure to make you laugh.

Be sure to see Suite Surrender at CHS on November 15th, 16th, and 17th in the school auditorium-- tickets will be sold at the door!
