Cheshire High School - Visual Arts

The Cheshire Public Schools Visual Arts Department believes art is fundamental to the entire learning process and, therefore, believes that every student should be afforded the opportunity to create and respond in the visual arts as part of the core curriculum. To that end, the visual arts curriculum is designed to allow students the flexibility to pursue their area of artistic interest and design their course of study. All of the courses being offered align with the National and State Content Standards in the Visual Arts:

  • Students will understand, select, and apply media, techniques and processes.
  • Students will understand and apply elements and organizational principles of art.
  • Students will consider, select, and apply a range of subject matter, symbols and ideas.
  • Students will understand the visual arts in relation to history and cultures.
  • Students will reflect upon, describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate their own and other's work.
  • Students will make connections between visual arts, other disciplines, and daily life.
