6th Grade Promotion Song

posted Apr 26, 2016, 8:10 AM by Nicole Kliegl

This year the 6th graders will be allowed to choose if they would like to sing a chosen song during the promotion.  ALL sixth graders will be singing the National Anthem - that is non-negotiable.  However, if you would like to perform a song with your classmates you can record your answer using the Google Form below.  The song we will be singing must be available in karaoke style and SCHOOL APPROPRIATE for a promotion ceremony.  (Think friendship, memories, growing older...)

If you choose to sing you may suggest a song.  If you do not want to sing you will not be able to suggest a song.  Please think CAREFULLY when choosing a song.  Once it is voted on there is no going back, there will be NO re-vote.  Rehearsals for this 6th grade singing group will be during your music classes and maybe an occasional recess rehearsal.  You must sign in to vote and you may only vote once.  Have fun!

Coffee House Info

Here we are in the New Year and we have big ideas too!  This year, instead of our annual talent show (which we will have next year) Mrs. O'Dell and myself have opted to try something new for Chapman School.  We are going to try out a 'Coffee House Night' for students to show off their musical abilities during a performance where family and friends can come and enjoy the music in a relaxed atmosphere.  Our concerts allow students to experience a large group ensemble but we don't have many opportunities for our young musicians to play in a small group setting.  The Coffee House Night is our way of letting more students perform solo/small groups perform for an audience!  Typically, Coffee House Nights are acoustic - meaning we are inviting non-electronic instruments to our performance spot.  Take a look at some of these videos to hear some acoustic versions of popular songs!

I hope these gave you a good idea of what to perform at our Coffee House!  Please see myself or Mrs. O'Dell if you have any questions!

Winter Concert was a hit!

posted Jan 21, 2015, 8:00 AM by Nicole Kliegl

This may come a little late, but better late than never!

I wanted to congratulate all of the chorus members for a phenomenal performance last Thursday!  You all worked very hard and it was very clear that you put a lot of heart into those songs.  That's what musicians do!  You have inspired me to continue improving every day as you all did throughout the semester.  Now, with the old music behind us, we can move on to bigger and better things!  At the next rehearsal (THURSDAY 1/29) we will be picking music.  I will pick a few of my favorites for you to vote on, then the group will suggest their favorites to vote on.  All in all we should have 4 songs.  If there is enough interest we will put together a '6th grade song' as well.

Please be thinking about what songs you would like to tackle next! I am always open to suggestions (by students OR parents!) and you can submit them to me during class OR through our website guestbook under 'contact Ms. Brady'.  (or click here:  Suggest a song!)

Thank you again and I can't wait to get back to work!

Happy Holidays!

posted Dec 19, 2014, 4:59 AM by Nicole Kliegl

A little post before we get to the week of Winter Break:

The School Sing Along will be on Tuesday, December 23rd at 12 for students and staff.  This is our way to come together as a school and say a little goodbye and Happy Holidays before school gets out.

Chorus members, please remember that our concert will be here before you know it!  We have 4 songs and some of them REALLY need to be practiced so that you know what part of the song comes next.  Please take some time during the break to review your songs and come back ready to sing!  ALl songs can be found on the CHORUS page under CHORUS MUSIC.

Thanks for checking in!

For the love of Autumn and Music

posted Oct 6, 2014, 9:48 AM by Nicole Kliegl

This is my absolute FAVORITE time of year.  What about you?  Is there any kind of music that you listen to that makes you think of fall?  I know we all listen to holiday music, but what about Autumn music.  Is there such a thing?  I know as we get closer and closer to Halloween I'll be listening to the Monster Mash!

Also, just a reminder that chorus has started!  For anyone that hasn't joined yet, sign ups are going to remain OPEN but please know that you will be expected to participate until after the concert.  This way as new people join we will have a good base of singers who have already learned the songs and can help our newcomers catch up!

See you later!

Welcome Back!

posted Sep 12, 2014, 9:32 AM by Nicole Kliegl   [ updated Sep 12, 2014, 9:32 AM ]

I am so excited to get started making music this year!  I feel so very welcomed into the Cheshire District and both Chapman and Doolittle schools that this transition is very easy!  I am thrilled to be directing the Chapman chorus as well (starting in late September/October).  We will begin the year reviewing what students left off with and then hit the ground running.  Can't wait to see what is in store for this year!!
