Mission Statement
The Laredo Middle School Counseling Department aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people by
delivering a comprehensive, developmental and preventative counseling program focused on academic, career and personal/social development
to ensure lifelong learning and understanding that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Philosophy Statement
The professional school counselors at Laredo Middle School believe:
Professional school counselors are an essential and vital component of the school environment.
All students have the right to have access to and can benefit from working with a professional school counselor.
Every student is a human being with a background that is rich, unique and diverse.
Professional school counselors are a bridge between students, administrators, teachers, parents and the community.
Professional school counselors advocate for the academic, career and personal/social needs of all students.
The school counseling program should be comprehensive and collaborative.
Data is used to drive program development and evaluation.
The department will be guided by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model for School Counseling Programs.
