My name is Sheila Ingle, and I am very excited to be returning as the media coordinator for Hiwassee Dam Schools again this year. I earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in middle grades education through Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. After a few years of teaching middle school, I attained a Master's degree in elementary education through Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. Later, I went back to school and became a media specialist through I through Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
I am a native of Fannin county, but I live just across the Georgia / North Carolina line. It is no farther for me to drive over to Hiwassee Dam than it is for me to drive back into Blue Ridge. I love this job, and I plan to stay until I retire if I am granted that wish by God and the Cherokee County School System.
My husband, Vance Ingle, has worked in Cherokee county for the past 24 years as the rehab director at Murphy Medical Center. We have two sons who live in our home in Woodstock, Georgia while they both attend college at Kennesaw State University. On the weekends, I work on our alpaca farm feeding and taking care of our alpacas and Great Pyrenees dogs who watch over our herd of animals.
My vision for the Media Center at Hiwassee Dam is to create an environment with a welcoming and inviting atmosphere so that it becomes the “hub” of the entire school. My goal is to increase student visits to the center especially by high school students, and so far, we have had many students utilizing the Media Center before class in the mornings, during lunch, during class for independent study, as well as whole group classes. However, I would like to make sure that all high school students know that myself and the facility is here to help them in any way possible. The media center has a wide selection of new fiction novels, so, please stop by often.
Battle of the Books is in full swing! Both the elementary and middle school teams have strong numbers this year. Details about progress and competition dates will be forthcoming.
The Book Fair will be arriving at Hiwassee Dam school on
October 2nd - October 9th
in the media center.
Our plans are to have teacher preview day on Thursday, October 2nd. On Friday, October 3rd all classes will come in and make their wish lists. The middle school students will also come in and browse the book fair on Friday as well. High school teachers are welcome sign up their classes to come in on Tuesday or Thursday, October 6th or 8th.
One day during the book fair, we will be hosting an afternoon family day. Parents and grandparents are welcome to come eat lunch with their child or grandchild and then take them for a special visit to the book fair. We will be sending out invitations for this and ask that you R.S.V.P. so that our cafeteria staff can accommodate for the extra food to be prepared for lunch.
Online shopping at the Book Fair will begin on September 30th. To access the online Book Fair, use the following URL when it becomes available:
