The Chelsea Schools are proud of a strong tradition in music education and of excellence in musical performance. The 2019 Chelsea Bulldog Marching Band strives to continue this excellence with a sense of individual, band, school, and community pride. The band has consistently received superior and excellent ratings at MSBOA marching band and concert band festivals and is active performing across the state of Michigan.

The band is especially active in the Chelsea Community, performing at the annual Chelsea Fair Parade, the "Hometown Holiday's Parade" and other community events. One of the hardest working sections within the band is the Chelsea Color Guard . This unit, under the supervision of Chelsea Alum Ms. Amanda Boham, performs with the band at all home football games and band shows, but is also active outside the regular band schedule. This is an audition group, and involves aspects of dance as well as the incorporation of a variety of equipment and visual enhancements.

The Chelsea Bands takes great pride in the involvement of our student leaders. The 2019 Bulldog Marching Band is lead onto the field by drum majors Nathan Cole, Kara Feldkamp, and Emily Rosolowski, color guard captains Courtnee Clouse and Emma Loy and an outstanding group of student section leaders. The student leaders are selected in the spring and are active in the programming, design, and coordination of the field show for the following fall.

This years halftime show incorporates the creative work of not only the directors, but at some level all of the Chelsea Band members. This year the Chelsea Band presents "The King and Queen" featuring the music of the "king" of "pop" Michael Jackson, and the rock band Queen.

The band marches 3 drum majors, 14 Color Guard, 22 percussion, and over 90 brass and woodwinds. Director of the Chelsea High School Bands is Mr. Rick Catherman, associate director and director of Chelsea Beach M.S. Bands is Ms. Katy Steklac, percussion instructors are Mr. Daniel McDonald and Ms. Olivia Catherman, color guard instructor is Ms. Amanda Boham, and marching band volunteer and consultant is Mr. Phil Jones.
