Former CHS Band Twirler Cori Walworth 
Selected to Twirl at The University of Toledo

Cori Walworth becomes COLLEGIATE TWIRLER
Cori Walworth, a Chelsea High School senior was recently selected to be one of two FeatureTwirlers with the University of Toledo marching band for the 2017-18 season. Cori has beentwirling and mastering her skill since the age of 8 years old and twirled for the past 4 years asthe Feature Twirler for the Chelsea high School marching band under the direction of RickCatherman. This experience not only gave her great opportunities but also built her skill set and confidence she needed for the college level. Cori began her twirling as a member of the Chelsea baton corps and then transferred to the Nationally acclaimed program, the SalineTwirlettes, under the direction of Susan Usher. She quickly thrived and became a national team member where she has won individual state & national titles and helped her team claim national team titles. Recently Cori qualified in the advanced division for the Grand National Majorette contest and will compete with the nation’s best this July at Notre Dame University. After nationals, Cori will attend band camp and start her twirling career with the ROCKET marching band . She will perform at all home games, select away games, bowl games, parades and serve as an ambassador to the University of Toledo. Cori gradates on June 4 th Magna cum laude and plans to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.

CHS Bands 
The CHS Marching Band earned a first division rating at the 2015 MSBOA District 12 Marching Band Festival.

The CHS Concert Band and the CHS Wind Symphony earned first division ratings at the 2016 MSBOA District Band and Orchestra Festival.

Senior Band Members Olivia Catherman and Anna Argento both earned places in the 2016 Michigan Youth Arts Festival Honor Band.

Chelsea-Dexter Collaboration Concert
The Chelsea Wind Symphony and the Dexter Symphonic Band will perform a concert in collaboration on Wednesday April 20, 2016.  Each group will perform a full concert program, and the two schools will combine their senior band members to form the first ever Chelsea-Dexter Senior All-Star Band.  The All-Star Band will perform under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Thompson, Assistant Director of Bands at Bowling Green State University, and conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Ensemble.

2016 CHS Louis Armstrong Jazz Award Recipient Announced
CHS Class of 2016 Saxophonist Jesse Martinez-Kratz was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the jazz band program at CHS. The award was announced at the CHS Jazz Ensemble Concert on March 31, 2016

CHS Music Department  New York City Tour A Success 
The CHS Music Department travelled to New York City in March and performed at the world famous Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center.  CHS Alum, and professional musician Rob Knopper, of the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, performed with the Chelsea High School Symphony Band.
