You are responsible for your learning, no one else!!!!
You should come to class prepared to learn every day. This includes bringing a notebook, paper, pen/pencil, and an open mind.
A notebook is required for class. The notebook should have five parts: roll assignments, class notes, class/homework, labs, and tests and quizzes. The class expectations sheets should be kept in the front of the notebook. Since the final is comprehensive, you should keep all work. Notebook checks will be made periodically.
Learn and follow all safety instructions at all times-ESPECIALLY DURING LAB. Understand that failure to do so poses a hazard and will result in your removal from the lab area, with no credit earned for the activity.
Work is due at the time I ask for it, not at the end of the period or day. Late work is penalized. Once we have taken the test for a unit or had the final assessment for a unit, I will not accept any work for that unit.
Once homework is graded students are able to correct mistakes and hand it back in for corrections. This may happen for up to three grades on a homework assignment. This is not allowed for quiz's, tests and roll assignments except for rare occasions.
Be on time
Be honest
Try your best
Use common sense
BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS:
Respect yourself: Try to learn as much as you can, spend your time wisely, TRY!!! Don’t be afraid to ask questions, it is the best way to learn.
Respect others: Listen to other students, teachers, administrators, substitutes, staff, and parents……you will learn that way. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized. Get to class on time. Respect the feeling of others.
Respect property: Don’t touch or use equipment unless instructed to do so. Return equipment to the proper place, even if that isn’t where you found it. Report damage, accidents happen, it isn’t a big deal. Help clean up.
Respect the teacher’s right to teach and the students’ right to learn. Think carefully about what you say and do. Make good choices. Be prepared to fix your mistakes and learn from them, that is how you learn.
ATTENDANCE:
You are responsible for work missed during absences, NOT THE TEACHER. For absences, the number of days absent equals the number of days you have to make up the work. Weekend days count as days.
Missed labs will be discussed case by case.
GRADING:
The grades for each semester will be determined from the total points in each of the following categories:
Class Work 20%
Labs and Projects 25%
Participation 25%
Tests and Quizzes 30%
