"Learning a foreign language, and the culture that goes with it, is one of the most useful things we can do to broaden the empathy and imaginative sympathy and cultural outlook of children."
Michael Gove

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
At Northside Elementary our students learn Spanish as a second language from first through fifth grades. We meet with each class three times per week for 25 minutes.
Spanish program highlights include:
  • Development of listening and speaking skills
  • Introducing basic reading and writing skills
  • Explore the cultures of different countries within the Spanish-speaking world
  • Reinforcement of the Core Curriculum in grades 1-5
  • Use of technology and other resources to reinforce curriculum and develop 21st century skills

The World Language curriculum at CHCCS has been redesigned to align with ACTFL standards, using the UbD framework. We work proactively with classroom teachers to reinforce key concepts in both math, literacy and science.
