Welcome to the P.E. Website for the Carrboro Cubs!

I am Terrye Oakley, P.E. teacher at Carrboro Elementary School.

I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in Education - Health and Physical Education and UNC - Greensboro in Dance.

I have twenty-four years of teaching experience in the public schools.

My e-mail address is: toakley@chccs.k12.nc.us and my office phone number is 919-968-3652, ext. 35241.

Thank you for sharing your child with me this year as we work together to become

more healthy, fit, and and have tons of fun!

A lifetime goal of being active and making healthy choices is what I hope to instill in the students at CES.

I wanted to share a few ideas with you to make our P.E. classes move smoothly this school year.

          1.  Your child will have P.E. class two (2) days each week for 30 minutes.  Please check the P.E. schedule to see when your child's class will come to the gym.

          2.  Please allow your child to wear comfortable clothing for movement!  Girls might want to wear shorts/leggings under dresses.

          3.  For safety reasons, students should wear sneakers or athletic shoes for P.E. class.  (Flip flops, crocs, dressy sandals, and heeled boots have proven to be dangerous in the                     past!)  Depending on the activity, not wearing the appropriate clothes or shoes in P.E. may result in a student not being able to participate in the activities in class.

          4.  If your child has been sick or injured, please send me an e-mail, doctor's note, or call me at school to let me know how to help your child.

The Physical Education Essential Standards/Curriculum

Each quarter during the school year, we will be working on motor skills, movement concepts, health-related fitness, and personal/social responsibility.

Students will be practicing components of each essential standard through various activities and games and using various assessments to gauge improvement and achievement.
