The McDougle Middle School Library is a shared facility with McDougle Elementary School the Carrboro Branch Library. Because of this unique feature, we have a large, rich collection of materials and are busy all day.
The Library opens at 8 AM for McDougle students. Students may come to the Library any time during the day with a signed pass or planner from their teacher. Lunch time passes are available from the teacher on duty in the cafeteria. Students are welcome to check out books, read, do homework, work on projects, use the computers, print out work and other school related activities. Just remember to keep food and drink in the cafeteria.
Circulation and Resources
Students may check out up to 5 items at a time, including one magazine (overnight check out), one audiobook, two graphic novels or two books in a series. Check out is for two weeks, though students may renew unless there is a hold. Although there are no overdue fines, students will not be able to check out if they have two or more overdue items. Overdue notices are usually sent by email. Students must pay for lost or damaged books. Students may request a hold for a book from the library staff.
The Library has 17 computers for class and student use. In addition, we have a cart of 16 laptops, 30 mini iPads and 6 Nooks for use within the Library.
