What is the Home Base Parent Portal?

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Home Base Parent Portal provides access to real-time information including attendance, grades, and detailed assignment descriptions and teacher comments to our High School and Middle School parents. A parent or guardian's access to Home Base is through the password protected "Parent Portal."

Please note: Our School District will disable the Parent/Student portal during Summer Break.

Is the Parent Portal available for Elementary Schools?

At this time, our elementary schools are not using Home Base's PowerTeacher Gradebook, therefore the Parent/Student Portal is not available for this school year.  We look forward to introducing this feature of Home Base to our Elementary Schools in the future.

Security and Privacy
In order to maintain full compliance with the U.S. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), all Home Base users are required to access Home Base using their own account. Student data is not accessible by anyone who does not have the authority to do so. Students have access to their own data, and any parent or legal guardian may also request access. If there is a situation where a parent or legal guardian should not receive access to student data, please notify the school immediately.

Mobile Apps

CHCCS has enabled a feature that allows PowerSchool mobile device apps to discover our PowerSchool servers. Because PowerSchool allows access to student data, it is highly recommended that all users passcode protect these apps. Without a passcode, practically all information on your mobile device may be viewable by anyone who gets their hands on it. This includes email and student information!
