“...But still, like dust, I'll rise.”  Inspired by Maya Angelou’s poem Still I Rise.

Smith Middle School Global Connections Theme for 2013 is STILL WE RISE.

Poverty, illness, physical and mental disabilities, corrupt leaders, oppression, inequality and more have existed since the creation of man.  Nothing, however, can suppress the human spirit and our quest for a fulfilling life as we RISE  above the hardships. Couple this spirit with a longing for peace, and an educated  world community is born ~ a community that will RISE  together. This world community will gather at Smith Middle School on November 14, 2013 from 6:00-8:30pm.
