The CDM program provides another opportunity for students to learn new content, to challenge themselves with the next level of rigor in a subject, and even graduate early.
Middle and High School students who wish to pursue CDM will need to show mastery of eligible course content in two phases, an exam and the creation of a product/performance that exhibits deep understanding and application of the subject matter.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will begin assessing students in February 2017. Additional information related to the dates for the first and second assessments will be given to students by the guidance counselor at each school.
Procedure for requesting CDM
There is no appeal of the Phase 1 assessment.
Under the state’s Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) option, uniquely qualified students may “test out” or bypass a course if they have mastered the content.
