UMUC believes that in order to nurture the highest levels of professionalism in teacher candidates, the candidates must be immersed in the experiences of the PreK-12 schools, both to observe and to teach. Therefore, the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is inherently a clinically-based teacher development program, where the courses in the program underpin the field and clinical experiences in which the teacher candidates participate throughout the program.
Every
course in the MAT program has at its core several field experiences. This web site is a resource center for teacher candidates/interns, mentor teachers and university field supervisors to help facilitate the field and clinical experiences.
May 2016 - Important Accreditation Update!
UMUC's MAT and MEd programs have completed the NCATE/CAEP national accreditation process and both programs have met all standards and have been approved for national accreditation! Congratulations to the MAT and MEd!
