Taxonomic Advisory Group

The Taxonomic Advisory Group (TAG) is composed of 12 taxonomists with expertise across the Musa diversity spectrum who provide technical advice and support the implementation of the Global Musa Strategy. The group held two workshops - in June 2006 in Cameroon and in October 2008 in India (see the Meetings tab for the workshop reports).  They developed a minimum set of descriptors and photos for characterization of germplasm, published guidelines for regenerating Musa accessions, and determined and distributed reference accessions. Members also give their expert opinion on the genetic integrity of ITC accessions through the ongoing Field Verification exercise.

Contact: TAG members can be contacted individually (see Musacontact links below) or as a group at the following address: musanet-tag@googlegroups.com
