Standing Student Tables

I've been asked about the standing tables that I use in my classroom. They are a new addition to my classroom this year, and I absolutely love them!  Last summer, I read some research on standing desks and was impressed with the findings.  I looked at the prices for standing desks online and they were very expensive.  So, I searched online for inspiration and found these plans.  With help from my amazing friends, I modified the design slightly for my classroom. We added a sheet of shower wall on top of the plywood so that the students could use dry erase markers and write on top of the table, eliminating the need to mess with managing individual white boards. I was able to find the coupler and tee PVC fittings from Zoro.com for a significantly lower price than Home Depot or Lowes.  I bought the table caps from Walmart.com.  I attached some shelf baskets that I bought from IKEA years ago for student storage. I found the classroom stools on Amazon.com

It was a big and expensive risk making the tables, not knowing if they would deliver on my expectations.  Luckily, they have worked better than I could have ever imagined.  The students are able to move around while they work and they are able to stay focused on tasks longer.
