Sunland and Tujunga are two neighborhoods within the City of Los Angeles, 7th Council District, they are often lumped together as one hyphenated community but they have very different characters.
Sunland sits in a valley with the Verdugo Hills to the South and the flood plain of Big Tujunga Canyon with the Angeles National Forest to the North. To the West the valley opens out into the North-East San Fernando Valley. The dividing line between Sunland and Tujunga is typically taken to be Mount Gleason Avenue. While there are a few horse properties in Sunland, the area is primarily composed of Single Family homes with a few Condominiums and Townhouses along Foothill Boulevard. Tujunga has its own zip code 91042. Tujunga sits above Sunland in a valley with the Verdugo Hills to the South and the Angeles National Forest to the North. Shadow Hills to the South-West is one of the pre-eminent horse neighborhoods in Southern California with many stables, miles of trails and properties in all price ranges.
Sunhill Estates - A community of a little over 100 homes built in 1964 on the South rim of the Tujunga Wash with wonderful views of the Angeles National Golf Course and the mountains to the North. With a mix of three and four bedroom homes, the average value (as of 12/31/2015) was a little over $500,000. The average home size is 1,530 square feet on an average 11,899 square foot lot. With easy access to shopping and dining this is a lovely place to live.
