Bash and Dash Carnival - Saturday, May 6 here at Ventana. We have a booth- Patito Pio (or Hook a Duck)! We need small prizes that connect to our wonderful hispanic culture, if possible. We also need a big tent and people to help man the booth. Contact us to help out for a shift!
Biosphere II Field TRIP! - Friday May 19!

Tarea/Homework week of 5/1 - EOY
Students have a project in Google Classrooms to work on. They will research advancements in the fields of scientific study we have covered this year.
Students are encouraged to grow something(s) at home
using seeds or tops of certain vegetables (like potatoes or carrots) that will re-root. They are learning about adaptations and how plant parts work together (systems) to survive, including photosynthesis. There are links on my weblinks page for more explorations.
"What does optional mean?" It means choose an option from the weekly list, one or more activities that suit your homelife and student needs. Students are not graded on homework. Extra practice translates to better understanding of the vocabulary and concepts studied in class)- Choose one Book Flix, Tumblebooks, Duolingo, or another Spanish book (see my web links). Write down in your planner which book or story you read. Why not send me a Telagami and tell me about the book?

I encouraged the students to ask permission to download Tellagami for free. You can make your own Gami using spoken words. Students can dictate their responses to me and email them

SPEAKING two languages rather than just one has obvious practical benefits in an increasingly globalized world. But in recent years, scientists have begun to show that the advantages of bilingualism are even more fundamental than being able to converse with a wider range of people. Being bilingual, it turns out, makes you smarter. It can have a profound effect on your brain, improving cognitive skills not related to language and even shielding against dementia in old age. Book Box articles on bilingualism
