4/24/16- Homework:Study your 

Today we had a few Avanza rap presentations from students who were unable to present on Thursday. We then reviewed the vocabulary for the lesson and practiced using it in context. I then went over the reading activity students worked on in Ms. Gathmann's class on Friday. I did collect Lectura A & Lectura B. To end the class students played a vocabulary game with a partner in which they read a description in Spanish and had to guess what vocabulary word was being described.

Today were were on a special schedule due to AZ Merit. My 1B students went to Ms. Gathmann's class while I tested 8th graders for AZ Merit. My students worked on a reading activity Lectura A & Lectura B 
while in Ms. Gathmann's class.

Today we went over the new vocabulary. Students then performed their avanza rap with the new vocabulary. We then ended class by working on some oral activities.

Today we went over the new vocabulary. Students then practiced using it in context. Students paired up with a partner for the Avanza Rap song. The class first listened and then participated in the Avanza rap song which used all the vocabulary for Unit 8.

Today we went over the new vocabulary. Students then had the opportunity to read short paragraphs and watch a short video clip in which their new vocabulary is used. 
Students then practiced using their vocabulary in context with some oral activities.

Today students started their new and final lesson of the school year. We went over the learning goals, answered questions and reviewed the new vocabulary. In this lesson students will learn to talk about vacation activities, talk about what they're going to do on vacation, talk about what they did on vacations and talk about souvenirs they buy.

This week students will continue to work on expressing aches and pains. Students will label the parts of the body on an elf. They will then write complete sentences to tell what the elf did to help practice past tense and express what hurts due to the activity their elf did.

This week students took finals. On Tuesday students took the reading and listening, on Wednesday students took the writing exams and on Thursday and Friday students took the speaking exam.

Students started the new lesson on health and fitness. Students were given a new vocabulary list and grammar notes. Students learned to talk about aches and pains and learned past tense for regular verbs.

This is a comic strip in which the characters they create are planning a party and talk about the chores that need to be done.

Students then worked with a partner on some verbal activities to practice their new vocabulary. To end class, students were given notes. In this lesson students will be describing their homes and giving the location of rooms and furniture.

Today students started class with an oral activity. We then went over the new learning goals for our lesson titled "Vimimos aquí". In this lesson students will learn to describe a house and household items, mention what they have, describe people and locations, indicate the order of things and identify the main idea in reading or listening passages about homes. Students then read cultural highlights about Ecuador and answered questions about what they read and learned about this country. However, since students did not have the time to finish the cultural sheet they will finish it on Monday.

I then read a story called "Crisentemo" and talked to the students about the importance of kindness. Students then ended the class with a game they learned in Spanish.

My 7th and 8th period worked in teams on their volcano. On Monday 3rd and 4th period will work on their volcano.

Today we went over the new vocabulary. Students then did a listening activity in which they listened to a song about professions and jobs. To end class we watched a short cultural video about a mexican job and students answered questions about what they watched and then had a conversation and make comparisons.

Students then paired up with a partner to work on a vocabulary game in which they read a description of a profession and had to write the name of the profession described. The first three pairs to finish first won. We then ended class by practicing the future tense to talk about future professions.

This week students will work on a cultural activity using country reports. Students will research a Spanish speaking country and will present all the information they find. This is something that all world language classes are working on this week. Students will then rotate to different classes on Friday to share and take notes on all the research they did and other students did.

Students started the new lesson for Unit 6 Lesson 2 titled "somos estrellas". Students were given a new vocabulary list and grammar notes. Students learned how to express hope and wishes using the subjunctive as well as extend, accept and reject invitations through phone call. Students also learned different phrased to try to convince/influence others.

Today we started class with an oral activity done with a partner. We then reviewed the new vocabulary and practiced using it in context. Students then watched the movie trailer for the movie The Finest Hours. Students watched the version made for Spain and the one made for Latin America. They then made comparisons between the two. Students then started working on a project called "cartel de película". For this assignment students need to create a movie poster for their favorite movie and write a movie review for it. There are two parts to this assignment.

In unit 5 students learned formal commands and how to address a group of people. In this lesson students will learn to tell people their age such as friends or siblings what to do or not to do.

Today we went over the new learning goals for our lesson. In this new lesson students will learn to talk about movies, talk about how movies affect them, make suggestions, tell others what to do and what not to do. We then went over the new vocabulary and got to read it in context and see a short clip in which the new vocabulary is used.

This will give us a whole week to prepare for mid-terms. Today we started the new lesson titled "¡buen provecho!". in this lesson students will learn to describe food and service, order a meals in a restaurant and talk about meals and dishes. We then then reviewed the new vocabulary for the lesson.

In this activity students used a computer to research these two soups so that they could compare the ingredients in the mexican soup pozole vs. the ingredients in the chilean soup porotos. Students did not finish and will continue their research tomorrow in class.

Students changed the verbs to commands for the steps by step instructions on how to prepare this dish. Students then finished working on their written assignment called "mi receta favorita". If for some reason a student did not finish this in class they must complete it at home.

Students changed the verbs to commands for the steps by step instructions on how to prepare this dish. Students then continued working on their written assignment called "mi receta favorita". Students will be given some time to complete their written assignment tomorrow in class.

After the quiz students then did a listening activity in which they learned how to make a salsa de aguacate. Students then worked with a partner on a reading activity. They read a recipe for how to make a carrot cake in Spanish. Students answered questions about the recipe.

Students were given notes before leaving class. This will help them given instructions to an adult or group of people. 

NOTE: 7th period did not get notes due to a fire drill. I will get these to them tomorrow.

Today students started class with an oral activity. We then reviewed the new vocabulary. Students then did a reading in which they had the opportunity to see how their new vocabulary is used in complete sentences. They then watched a short 3 minute video in which their vocabulary was used in context.


08/18/16- Homework: Study your new vocabulary for U5L1

Today students started class with an oral activity. Students then worked on a cultural sheet in which they answered questions about what they learned and read about Spain. To end class students received their new vocabulary list. We started to review the new vocabulary but did not have time to finish. Tomorrow I will finish going over the vocabulary.


08/17/16- Homework: None 

Today students started class with an oral activity. Students received a review sheet of notes. They are to keep these notes in their folder for future use. We then started the new Unit and lesson which is called "¡Qué rico!". In this unit students will learn to identify and describe ingredients, talk about food preparation, follow recipes and give instructions and make recommendations. Students will also learn a little bit about Spain in this unit. Students read cultural highlights about Spain and learned about three typical Spanish meals.


08/16/16- Homework: None 

Today students started class with an oral activity. They then worked with a partner to complete a reading task in which they were expected to circle two things that were being compared and underline the descriptive word. They also created a comparison of their own. Students then worked on a person-to-person speaking activity called "Todo acerca de mí". Students answered questions about their likes, hobbies, family, etc. Students later introduced themselves to someone in the class.

08/15/16- Homework: None 

Today students finished presenting their tacos. Students then did a review activity in which they silently read a question on the board and then help up their answer. This allowed me to see how much students remember. Students then worked with a partner on a reading activity in which they circled the two things being compared and underlined the descriptive word. In the end students made a comparison of their own.

WELCOME back to school! :) I'm very excited for this new school year. 

Today we started class with an oral activity done with a partner. Students talked about their summer. I explained our class rules and procedures. We went over our learning goals for the first two days of school. Students played a game with a partner to see how many verbs they remembered for each letter of the alphabet. Students also started an activity in groups in which they described a taco using the assigned proficiency level. This activity is meant to help students understand how they get graded in class. Students will finish presenting their tacos on Monday.
