Last Week Students ran a booth and participated in games during our class  carnival on Monday and Tuesday.  Students were graded for the Spanish they use on the speaking rubric.  They also got a teamwork grade as well as a writing grade from for their directions.

This Week:  Students will be learning about sports and what is needed in order to play sports in Spanish.  Students will be presenting the equipment needed to play these sports.  Students will also be able to ask and answer questions about these sports, if they like to play, where the play, etc.

This week:  We will be continuing to build on our work with our daily routine.  Students will be writing out their daily routine in paragraph form and them be creating a puppet to depict their routine.  The puppet shows will start on Thursday and be completed on Friday.  We will watch them in class next week.

This week:  I am excited to start a new lesson on talking about a typical day.  It would be nice to have exciting days that are different, however, let's face it, most of our days are routine.  That's what we will be learning.  This week we will focus on vocabulary building, listening skills and reading skills.

This week:  We will be continuing to read and listen to legends and myths in Spanish.  This week we will focus on the the legend of the two volcanoes.  This is an Aztec legend about how two prominent volcanoes came to be.  The students will work on a reading strategy called Picture it, where they must draw what is happening in the story.  They will then take a quiz about their reading on Wednesday in class.  Other stories will be read, watched, or listened to this week.

This week:  This week we will be starting the Myths and legends unit.  This unit is very unique and different compared to the others.  We will be focussing on Mexico, but will also learn some variations of legends from around Latin America.

Week of September 15

Last Week Students focused on airport travel.  They learned what they needed to do when they got to the airport, what they did after they checked in and arrived at their gate.  Also, when they landed and retrieved their baggage. 

This Week  Students will continue using and refining their vocabulary.  Students will make an advertisement for a new airport.  They have to try to attract people to go to this airport by talking about what they have inside and what they can provide.

Week of September 8

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day!  We are ready for a short week this week.  

Last week students practiced their speaking and writing skills and described where they would wanted to go, why they wanted to go there (what attracted them), and what they needed to bring.

This week Students will be focussing on airport travel.  They will learn what they need to do when they get to the airport, what they do after they check in and arrive at their gate.  Also, when they land and retrieve their baggage.

Week of August 24

¡A Viajar!

We will be finishing up some of the pre-assessments this week and then starting a new travel unit.  This week we will learn how to make travel plans and what to pack on the trip.  You will receive a vocabulary list for the first time to build up your vocabulary.   The vocabulary sheet is attached below in classwork.

Welcome to a new school year!

This week we will be learning more about you and how you can talk and describe yourself.  We will also be learning about others and so you will be able to describe other people in the class.  

We will continue to go over procedures, so you will feel comfortable in the class.
