7th & 8th Grade Solo/Ensemble Schedule

Here is the schedule for the Centerville Solo/Ensemble contest, which will be held at Centerville High School on Saturday, February 3rd. You can navigate the three centers at the bottom of the spreadsheet by clicking on Center 1, Center 2, or Center 3. Students should arrive for their time slot at least 15-20 minutes early, in case the center is running ahead of schedule. You can drop your things off in the auditorium, and you can also warm-up in there as well. Ratings will be posted on the Art display case, which is down the stairs toward the South entrance.

6th Grade Solo Contest information and Schedule

Solo/ensemble competition for 6th through 8th grade students is on Saturday, February 3rd. All sixth grade band students have been preparing a solo for contest. Attached to this letter you will find a full schedule of the day’s events. All solos are divided into one of three centers, all located in the Technical Wing of the high school. Below this note you can find the schedule for the day that includes each student’s performance time and their performance center.


On the day of contest the auditorium will be available for students to store their cases and warm-up. Students should arrive at least 20 minutes before their performance time to find and check in at their center in case they are running early or late. There will be a small amount of seating in each performance centers for family and friends to watch. The students should dress nicely to perform their solo (i.e. no jeans or tennis shoes). No specific colors are required. Shortly following each performance, a rating will be posted. Judges award ratings from I-IV, with a I rating being the best. Students may leaving after they have performed their solo.

6th Grade After School Solo Practices Begin

6th Grade solo rehearsals will be starting on Tuesday, January 16th. Rehearsals will last until 5:00 and students are asked to bring homework for the time that they are not working with the director or accompanist. CHS Marching Band Receives 2nd Place!

The Centerville High School Marching Band recently competed at the Fort Madison Marching Invitational on Saturday, September 16th, and received 2nd place in Class 3A. They also received the caption award for Best Color Guard. This year's show is "Phantom of the Opera". Congratulations to Mr. DePrizio and the CHS Marching Band!

Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser

Centerville Band students are selling Krispy Kreme Donuts!  Original glazed donuts are $10 per dozen, and filled/variety donuts are $12 per dozen.  Money that is raised goes toward a variety of uses, including instrument upgrades for the band program, 5-12, matching grant instrument purchases, educational trips, and many more uses!  Your support directly impacts our kids!  Delivery will be on Monday, March 13th.  Orders can be picked up at the Jazz Showcase concert at the high school.  If you would like to support Centerville Bands, see any of the students, or their directors!  Thank you for your continued support!

2017 Solo/Ensemble Schedule

You can click the tabs at the bottom to navigate through the centers.  Center 1 will include flutes and clarinets.  Center 2 will include a few clarinets, bass clarinets, and saxophones.  Center 3 will include trumpets, horns, euphoniums, and a few saxophones, and Center 4 will include percussionists, trombones, and tubas.  Students should arrive at least 20 minutes early, in case a center is running ahead of schedule.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Morgan or Mr. Vanderlinden.
