Cedar Fork Elementary PTA Home Page

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a organization that brings parents and teachers together so they can work towards improving the lives and education of students.  With your membership, it enables the PTA to provide each student with art, music, literacy and enriching cultural art assemblies as well as the benefits of all the other enhancement programs the P
TA provides.

If you have any questions about PTA events or programs, please contact PTA President, Erin Schawel, at president@cedarforkpta.net.

From "Anansi to Zeus"

The Cedar Fork Elementary family is very excited to welcome Donna Washington's performance "From Anansi to Zeus" on Friday,February 16th. It is a school wide performance and part of our cultural arts program

Donna Washington is a professional author, storyteller, and multicultural folklorist who has been sharing stories for more than 30 years. She has been featured at numerous festivals, schools & libraries, theaters, and other venues around the world including Canada, Peru, Argentina, and Hong Kong. Her school shows are grade specific and targeted to students' age, cognitive, and emotional development.

This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County. Additional support is provided by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.

On January 4th 2018, the North Carolina PTA Board of Directors adopted the three following class size resolutions:

1) Encourages the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) to fully fund the class size mandate and allows school districts adequate time over a period of years to implement the new limits;

2) Alternatively requests that the General Assembly restore local flexibility over class size to the original House Bill 13, which allows local districts flexibility to change the Kindergarten to Third student ratio;

3) and/or establish a hardship waiver for school districts whose quality of education will be diminished through the class size mandate.

Lastly, the North Carolina PTA requests the NCGA to resolve the class size issue quickly, as waiting until the short session in May will be too late for school districts as they plan budgets and make hiring decisions for the 2018-2019 school year.
